Reviews

"Wonderfully ripe and beautifully composed, the wine shows blackcurrant, dark cherry, dried herb, olive and toasted nut characters on the nose, leading to an immediately appealing palate that’s succulent and plump. It’s splendidly weighted and lingering, elegantly framed by chalky tannins. At its best: now to 2028." - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

"Bright and youthful in the glass. The nose speaks of the variety and the region - Ribena with a dried herb sinew, cedary oak and leafy savouriness. Finely-fleshed with blue and purple berries sliding into fine grained, chalky tannins. Will age with grace." - Nick Butler, The Real Review

Description

Cabernet Sauvignon is considered one of the world’s most noble grape varieties – and rightly so when you consider this finely tuned version which comes from one of Australia’s most revered cabernet regions, the Coonawarra, considered the jewel in the crown of the wider Limestone Coast zone in South Australia’s cool south-east. This youthful release reveals all the hallmarks of the variety in its richer, darker-fruited, textured mood. Intense and concentrated with black olive notes, lifted with prettier inferences of the violet, lavender and mint spectrum of herbs, all classic expressions from the variety. There are other more oak-derived suggestions too like dark cacao chocolate which adds depth of character to the mouthfeel and finish.

Vintage Description

2018 was an amazing vintage, with superb conditions and fruit of outstanding quality harvested. The Winter and Spring rainfall leading into the 2018 season was excellent at 20% above long-term averages, soil moisture was replenished, and aquifers recharged.  The flowering to fruit set period was quick, assisting in good berry numbers. The slow cool ripening was very even, delivering fruit with fine tannins and strong varietal flavours. Cabernet Sauvignon showed deep dark colour with intense fruit character and soft ripe tannins. An outstanding vintage.
